Pressure massage

I could find nothing specific on pressure massage, so have improvised!

The various forms of pressure massage all have a couple of things in common. They feel great, and they can make you feel better.

Pressure massage has a long history in countries all over the world, and involves techniques from Shiatsu to Swedish, Thai to Hot Stone, Sports to Lomi Lomi.

With the benefits of pressure massage becoming more widely recognised, more and more people are trying these different techniques, hoping to feel the many benefits associated with them. Among the most common benefits of these different techniques are:

  • Stress Relief: There is no doubting the relaxing effects of these different methods. We live in a stressful world in which we rarely have the opportunity to release the physical symptoms of stress - high heart rate, raised blood pressure, increased adrenaline flow. Treatment such as this can relax our bodies and allow our natural defence and healing systems to work effectively.

  • Improved Circulation: Our circulatory system is responsible for so many parts of our overall health and well-being. Not only does our blood deliver oxygen to the cells, it also delivers a whole range of essential nutrients and chemicals, and takes away toxins. Manipulating muscles increase blood flow and also helps lymphatic drainage.

  • Reduced Muscle Tension: Whether from exercise or from stress, muscles can become tight. Tight muscles not only operate less efficiently, but are also more susceptible to injury. By loosening up muscles we not only feel better, we also perform better.
