Vibrogym
Introduced in 1999, VibroGym were the first company to produce a commercially available whole body vibration training system. USed by celebrities everywhere - does it really work? |
What they offer :
VibroGym offers vibration platforms that provide an intense complete body workout. Whole body vibration training is one of the hottest new trends in workouts, offering a host of benefits over traditional workouts.
Using a VibroGym vibration platform, almost 100% of the body's muscles are exercised. This compares with around 40-60% from conventional training methods.
VibroGym claims that using the vibration platform, you can effectively train your entire body in as little as 10 minutes. This is because exercising on the platform stimulates the entire muscular system at one time, rather than just working isolated muscles.
This results in the following benefits:
- Increases in maximum strength
- Increases in explosive strength
- Increases in stamina
There are various other benefits that it is claimed can occur as a result of regular use of the vibration platform for your workouts, including:
- Control of cellulites
- Improvement of collagen
- Increase in bone density
- Fat burning
- Increase in blood circulation
Does it work:
As with any new product, there is limited evidence so far to support these claims. Vibration training was developed to help Soviet cosmonauts maintain muscle tone and bone density while in space, and there is some evidence that it is effective in this respect.
It is also increasingly being used by athletes as an adjunct to their regular training. Whether it can, or indeed should, replace your other training is much more open to debate. |
Summary:
A welcome addition to the choices available for workouts, vibration plates can add something different to your regular workout program.
