Chin tucks exercise

Though not many people do them, chin tucks are a good exercise for keeping this area pain free.

The neck is the site of chronic pain for many people - for some this is as a result of an injury, often a whiplash injury from a car crash.

For others, however, it can simply be chronic pain brought on by years of neglect. Whatever the cause, as long as your doctor has released you to perform normal activities, chances are performing exercises like chin tucks will help to relieve your symptoms.

The way our body works is quite simple - to keep working efficiently requires that our muscles and soft tissues (tendons, ligaments) are strong and flexible. If you neglect them or suffer an injury, they can be become weak and unable to perform properly - the result? Pain.

Performing this exercise is simple. Using either hand, put your fingertips against your chin and gently push your head straight back - it's almost as though you are trying to make a double chin!

Be sure to keep looking forward as your head moves back. Hold the position for five seconds, then relax. Repeat this movement 5 times.
