Hypnotherapist jobs

Clients are put into a trance-like state by hypnotherapists in order to change negative or dysfunctional beliefs or patterns of behaviour. Hypnotherapists work on a wide range of conditions including:

• Depression
• Stress
• Anxiety
• Addictions
• Phobias
• Eating disorders
• Panic attacks
• Insomnia
• Suppressed emotions

Successful treatment may require several sessions, but is nowhere near as prolonged as psychotherapy or other forms of treatment. Hypnotherapists are in increasing demand, with possibilities to work for private hospitals and clinics, and private practice. Additionally, there are more and more GPs and private health insurers referring patients.

For medically qualified practitioners there are also a small number of opportunities within the NHS. Most work is on a self-employed basis, so word of mouth will be a critical part of establishing a successful business.

Earnings are hard to estimate, particularly for self-employed therapists, as it will depend upon your location number of clients, etc. However, if you are self-employed, typical earnings are around ?40 to ?70 per session. In full time employment, new qualified practitioners can expect to earn from ?15,000 to ?20,000 a year, while a more experienced practitioner can make ?35,000 or more a year.
