Hip & Trunk Flexibility Test
Introduction
By performing a hip and trunk flexibility test regularly you will be able to determine how limber your lower body and back region is. Often times many individuals who do a lot of sitting during the day tend to be extremely tight in this area.
|
What is the point?
The hips and trunk are very important to your freedom of movement and general posture. It's important to work to keep the muscles in these areas free and flexible.
The objective of the Hip & Trunk Flexibility test is to evaluate the range of motion in these areas in order to prevent painful stiffness and reduce the compression that is experienced in the lower back.
What do you need?
- A flat surface
- A Ruler
- A Sit and Reach box
- A Wall
How do you do the test? - To start the hip and trunk flexibility test, sit with your back against a wall and feet placed next to a sit and reach box. Note that it is very essential that your knees stay straight throughout the entire duration of this exercise.
- Once comfortable, place arms straight out in front of you, fingers together and then reach forward as far as you can, moving the small measuring block along the ruler that is provided on the sit and reach box.
